Kendrick Lamar was thought to have dropped a surprise new album, but after a brief fan frenzy, it turned out to be a fake.
On Sunday (April 28), an album under the title pgLang— the name of the record company co-founded by Kendrick — appeared on the streaming platform [untitled], which markets itself to artists as a “a sacred place for your work-in-progress music.”

The 15-track project, which featured guest appearances from the likes of André 3000, Baby Keem, Sampha, N*E*R*D and SiR, had fans thinking that the Compton rapper had released a surprise album or decided to share some previously unreleased material.
The album was quickly debunked as a fake and confirmed to be as such by a user on Reddit who said: “I compiled my favorite Kendrick leaks to try & create a conceptual cohesive playlist lmk if yall fw these tunes,” and linked to the album.
André 3000 N.E.R.D. Brent Faiyaz Sampha SiR Keem (syncing lol)!

Many of the tracks are previously circulated leaks dating from the last decade. One song even repurposes a verse from the end of the album version of “i.”
At the time of writing, the album is still available to listen to on [untitled] and neither Kendrick nor the actual pgLang have commented on the matter.
Despite the fake album, speculation has been mounting that K. Dot is set to release a new project this year.
Akademiks tweeted last week that he’s “hearing [Kendrick is] tryna sell his next album with the Drake diss,” referencing the 6 God’s recent shots at him on “Push Ups” and “Taylor Made Freestyle.”
